5And you shall know in your heart that as a man chastises his son, Hashem your G-d chastises you.
4The Rock: His work is perfect, for all His ways are just. [He is] a faithful G-d who does no wrong; He is righteous and upright.
“Whatever the Merciful One does is for the good”: Rabbi Akiva in the field
Rav Huna said in the name of Rav, in the name of Rabbi Meir, and so it was taught in the name of Rabbi Akiva: A person should always be accustomed to say, “Whatever the Merciful One does, He does for the good.”
As in this [story] of Rabbi Akiva. He was traveling on the road and came to a certain town. He asked for lodging, and they did not give it to him. He said, “Whatever the Merciful One does is for the good.” He went and spent the night in the field.
He had with him a rooster, a donkey and a lamp. A wind came and blew out the lamp; a cat came and ate the rooster; a lion came and ate the donkey. He said, “Whatever the Merciful One does is for the good.” That very night an army came and took the town captive. He said to them, “Did I not tell you? Whatever HaKadosh Baruch Hu does is all for the good.”
Whoever says that HaKadosh Baruch Hu is lax, his life will be forfeit: “for all His ways are just”
Rabbi Chanina said: Whoever says that HaKadosh Baruch Hu is lax, his life will be forfeit, as it says, “The Rock: His work is perfect, for all His ways are just” (Devarim 32:4).
“Lax”: letting all their sins pass; his life is given up, for he teaches people to sin
“Lax”: to let all their transgressions pass.
“His life will be forfeit”: his life and his body will be given up [to harm], for he teaches people to sin.

How great is the middah of trust: for one who trusts with all his heart, everything turns out for the good
How great is the middah of trust, when one trusts in Hashem with all his heart, until everything turns out for his good, as it was with Rabbi Akiva and with Nachum Ish Gamzu. For he trusted in Hashem that He would save him, since He can do everything, as it says, “Trust in Him forever and ever” (Yeshayahu 26:4). That is, even when they see and think that their hope is already lost, let a person not despair, but let them trust in Him forever and ever, for Hashem is able to save them. And when he places his trust in Him, then it is upon Hashem to save him, since he has placed his trust in Him.
