Korban HaEidah

Yerushalmi Sotah 9:13

He would not give up the time he set for Torah to make money: if profit is fit to come, it will come from HaKadosh Baruch Hu; this is one whose Torah is his trade, who trusts in Hashem for his livelihood

And they were, etc.: the buyers were calling out [to him] to come with his merchandise to sell.

And he said: and he would say, “I will not give up the time I set for learning Torah for the sake of making money.”

If: “If it is fit that a profit should come to me, it will come by itself from HaKadosh Baruch Hu, even after I finish my set [time].” And this is what is called “his Torah is his trade”: he scorns every trade and trusts in Hashem that He will give him his livelihood; and these are the ones called men of faith.
